One system for full food traceability

Food traceability software records where every ingredient came from and where every finished product went. Forkto digitises your goods-in records, supplier details, batch information, production runs and dispatches, making a product's full journey searchable in seconds instead of buried in a folder of delivery notes. Traceability sits within Forkto's wider food safety management software, alongside your daily checks, temperatures and audits.

Trace back to source

Every intake records the supplier, batch and dates, as well as the country of origin for meat. This lets you trace an ingredient back to the exact delivery it came from.

Trace forward to customers

Log dispatches against each product batch and customer, so you always know exactly where your finished products were sent.

Built around UK food law

Aligned to retained Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, Article 18, covering the "one step back, one step forward" traceability every UK food business must keep.

How traceability works in Forkto

Because traceability is built from the records your team already keeps, a full product trace is always one search away.

One step back: record the supplier, batch and dates for every intake, including country of origin for meat.
One step forward: log dispatches against each product batch and the customer it was sent to.
Batch & lot records: every intake and product carries a unique ID you can search and trace.
Mass balance: see how much of any intake has been used across your production runs.
Faster recalls: flag affected stock as recalled and pull a full product trace in seconds.
Inspection-ready: print, download or email a complete trace report for your EHO or a customer.

Traceability for every kind of food business

From butchers and bakeries to multi-site manufacturers, Forkto scales to your operation. Explore the solution for your industry.

Food traceability software FAQs

Common questions about food traceability and recall record-keeping in the UK.

What is food traceability software?

Food traceability software records where every ingredient came from and where every finished product went, so you can follow a product's journey through your business. In Forkto you book in deliveries with their supplier, batch and dates, track stock and production, and log dispatches to customers. You can then pull a full trace for any product on demand.

What does UK law require for food traceability?

Under retained Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, Article 18 of the General Food Law requires every food business to identify who supplied their food and who they have supplied it to. This is the 'one step back, one step forward' principle. Forkto keeps both sides of that record: intakes link to suppliers, and dispatches link to customers.

Does Forkto support batch and lot traceability?

Yes. Every intake and product booking carries a unique ID, and stock is built up from those individual bookings. That means you can trace a finished product back to the specific delivery and batch its ingredients came from, and use mass balance to see how a batch was used.

Can it help with a product recall?

It helps you act quickly. You can trace a product back to its supplier batch, see which stock and production runs were affected through mass balance, flag the affected stock as recalled, and produce a trace report to share. Forkto doesn't send recall notices to your customers on your behalf, but it gives you the records you need to manage a recall or withdrawal.

Is it suitable for food manufacturers and butchers?

Yes. Forkto includes recipe-based production with automatic stock deduction, batch tracking, mass balance and dispatch records. These are the building blocks manufacturers and packers rely on. It also suits butchers, bakeries and caterers who need to evidence traceability for an EHO.

How much does food traceability software cost?

Forkto starts at £13/month per location with unlimited users, and traceability is part of the wider food safety platform. See the pricing page for full details.
